FUTURE SELF
Stefan Sagmeister
Sagmeister has produced a collection of zines which come together in a box; the front of the box has cut out sections. I was initially interested in this ‘book’ as I thought about what would I tell my future self from what i’ve learnt myself over the years.
In one of the zines the life lesson is ‘Complaining is silly. Either act or forget.’; I like this one in particular as the imagery accompanying it links directly to the text. As you flick through the pages the words start to fade to represent the notion of forgetting. This is a clever idea and shows that the design has been well thought out.
I’m interested in the idea of creating a book which would inform a younger self on lessons for surviving in life. The lessons would come from personal experience or from the experiences that other people have had whilst growing up. After looking at this set up it has made me question how I will present the lessons and how can I play around with the idea.
