A Conversation - Katy Perry Music Video

Here is an example of music and emoji’s coming together in one project; this is Katy Perry’s lyric music video for Roar. This was one of the first songs to come out of her album Prism at the time so she wanted to come back with a bang and have her audience immediately connect with her. 

In my opinion to do this she used emoji’s throughout and displayed her song lyrics through visual communication. Not only can the viewer connect with the visuals, it also prompts the audience on how they can type out her lyrics to then spread online and to friends which I think is quite clever. Earlier I mentioned how the mobile phone can be the center of the social ‘hub’, well this can be clearly seen in the video as it shows Katy taking her phone everywhere with her, she never loses contact/ connection suggesting she’s always in touch with her fans. She even goes to the toilet with her phone in one of the scenes, she can’t have breakfast without it, she’s in the gym with it, in the bath, in the car etc. which shows that social media is big part of daily life and conversations. 


How can I make an ad campaign be successful? I think that I need to use social platforms in order to spread a message as people are always searching for someone online if they realise it or not as they are constantly connected to there phones.
