A Conversation - Top Emojis Used

As part of my research I wanted to gain an understand and knowledge on what emoji’s people use and if people use the same ones. As I’m considering using emoji’s in my campaign I wanted to use emoji’s that people use and have an attachment to so that I can get across my message to the audience.

So I decided to gather some primary research from friends, family and peers and my results were interesting. I think that the emoji which was the most common throughout the responses was the crying with laughter face. This makes me question whether the person uses this emoji as they actually find something funny or do they use it as a quick way to respond to an answer rather than having to think of a reply, or in fact they might not even find the text funny at all but out of kindness they just reply with that. Other observations were the obvious use of the regular smile emoji’s, with the slightly cheeky ones; another thing I noticed was that quite a lot of negative emoji’s were used to show that the user was either stressed or under pressure. One of the responses even said that their emoji’s made her look bi-polar which shows to me that users use a varied range of emoji’s so that they can effective express their emotion to the other person.

From doing this research I have learnt that with the emoji’s people use they rely on them quite often to express an emotion quickly or to express an emotion that they can’t describe.
